Counting down the days.....

We had our first weekly visit on Monday and everything is good. I was hoping they would "check me" to see if I'm naturally progressing towards labor at all yet but since I'm not having contractions yet they held off. However, Carter is growing right on target (approximately 6lbs. or so now) and would be perfectly fine if he decided to make his appearance! Knowing that he's pretty much fully cooked other than putting on weight makes Rob and I even more anxious for him to make his arrival! We've been getting everything washed, cleaned, and ready for him around the house. I've packed our bags, just in case, so now we just have to wait. We're so excited though and can't wait to meet him!!! :)

Christmas 2008

We had a great Christmas! It's crazy that it's our last parents as "kids" and next year we'll be parents....wow! Rob got pretty much everything on his list - he must've been a good boy! I got a lot of gift cards, per my request, that I intend on saving until I can shop for normal clothes again :) haha. All our festivities were spread out nicely which was great b/c I definitely poop out a lot easier now. Now that Christmas has come and gone we're just anxiously awaiting the next big thing.... Carter's arrival!!!!

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who came to our shower at the Wine Vault this past Saturday and for all the wonderful gifts! An even BIGGER THANK YOU to Lori, Jenny, and Aislyn for doing such an absolutely amazing job putting the shower together - we know it took a lot of time and energy but we really appreciate it and everything was absolutely perfect! :) We're very fortunate to have such super duper out of this world friends!!!! Thanks again!

~ 29 weeks ~

Rob and I went on October 31st for our 28 week appointment. I had my glucose screening test and haven't heard anything back so I'm assuming I'm in the clear of having gestational diabetes which is great! We also had an ultrasound and everything still looks to be progressing perfectly. Carter weighs approximately 2 lbs. 13 oz. already (which is in the 66th percentile which is good - his head is in the 89th percentile which is just awesome for me - haha!).

We also went on November 4th for our 3D/4D ultrasound. We had so much fun and it was absolutely amazing! I still find it incredible that they have machines that can really grasp what your baby looks like. We laughed at little Carter the whole time b/c he kept grinning and puckering his lips out or making a pouty face and it was so cute. Towards the end he started yawning and then eventually rolled over where we couldn't get anymore face shots and went night night! So funny! It truly was amazing to see how he's developing and even starting to show his little personality. It makes Rob and I both that much more excited and anxious for him to be here!

Family Baby Shower - November 2, 2008

My mom, sister, Rob's mom, and Rob's sister held Carter's first baby shower for family and friends at my mom's house on Sunday, November 2nd. The shower was wonderful and it was great to get to see everyone....not to mention all the awesome gifts we got for the little guy. I've posted some pictures from the shower as well as my 29 weeks preggo shot....it seems like all my belly shots take place at mom's house!

Baby BOY Masten

Rob and I are so excited that our little Carter will grow up with our friends Eric & Aislyn's little boy! They found out yesterday that they're going to have a boy too and they are both super excited!!! Since our sons will only be like 2 months apart, it'll be so much fun to see them learn and grow-up together and more than likely get in trouble together at some point! :) After all they're dads enjoyed their fair share of being "mischievious" together in college I'm sure - haha!

October Fun!

October has been full of all kinds of fun events and has flown by! Time in general is flying by and it's hard to believe that I'm entering into the 3rd and final trimester!!! I wouldn't go as far as to say that I just love being pregnant so much that I'd be fine with being pregnant all the time b/c that's definitely not the case. However, I must say that so far it's been a pretty easy journey - no sickness, no crazy hormonal mood swings, and an amazing group of friends and family and awesome husband who have all been nothing but supportive. I just keep praying and keeping my fingers crossed that the next 3 months until little Carter arrives go just as smoothly!

Jenny threw Brian an amazing surprise birthday party at Connolly's in Charlotte for his 30th birthday. We had a great time and it was fun, as always, to hang out with all our Charlotte pals!

Lori & Greg (and their fellow neighbors) hosted the 2nd Annual "Vance Road Octoberfest" last weekend at their neighborhood clubhouse. Rob had a great time with all the boys and us girls enjoyed sitting by the fire hanging out and chit-chatting as usual!

We also went to the Panthers vs. Saints game with Jarod last Sunday. It was an awesome game and we enjoyed tailgating with quite of few of Rob's old college buddies. I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the tailgate grilling!!!
Rob and I have also been working on the nursery quite a bit this month. We found some furniture to go with the crib so Rob's had the pleasure of putting all the pieces together and getting everything ready. We're slowly but surely getting there but I'm confident we'll meet our goal of having everything ready by the time the baby showers begin!

25 weeks

Friday we went for our 25 week doctor's visit. The heartbeat sounded great at 143 bpm and everything is progressing as it should. We had another ultrasound; I think the tech was trying to give us a heartattack b/c she was struggling proving Carter is a boy this time....it turned out he was just being stubborn and keeping his legs close together but we still managed to sneak a peek. I definitely was relieved seeing how we've already purchased lots of little man clothes and painted our nursery blue! Lucky for me it looks like he's got Rob's big head - haha - and even based on the profile I'm thinking he's gonna look like his daddy! Head/face shot

Nursery Update!

So we have an amazingly beautiful crib (courtesy of Rob's uncle - THANK YOU THANK YOU) and as of this past weekend the nursery painting is complete! Now we just have to do some trim work, hang curtains and pictures, and finish purchasing the remainder of the nursery furniture. Things are coming together so nicely and I'm super happy and excited! Beth, a close family friend who is an amazing painter, offered to take time from her busy schedule with Market to paint our nursery stripes as a our baby gift! She did such an amazing job and it was exactly what we wanted!!!

My precious mom "Mrs. Attention to Detail" helped tremendously in getting the nursery painting perfect & finished....i love her soo soo much!

Viar Reception

Our friends Claude and Renee got married a couple weeks ago in St. Lucia and had a reception for us friends and family last weekend to enjoy! We had a great time and it was so nice to see all the Charlotte crew! Showing little Carter some love!

Happy Birthday to me!!! ~ 23 weeks

So I celebrated my 24th birthday last week...the last year I am still officially closer to 20 than 30!!! My mom fixed me my favorite cake (confetti cake...duh) and dinner and her, my sister and stepdad got me some really cute maternity shirts! I'm so blessed to have such a precious family! :) Of course mom insisted on getting a preggo "side shot" of me at 23 weeks so I decided why not share it with all of you! The baby bump has definitely decided to make it's presence known!

Wedding Season!!!

The past couple weekends we've been wedding hopping! I love weddings...although I may enjoy them a tad more when I can make champagne my close friend - haha! Regardless, we've had a great time socializing, dancing, and Rob even singing with friends and newlyweds!
Will & Heather Funderburk (Will's a college buddy of Rob's) were married on August 23rd in the south part of Charlotte and it was absolutely beautiful! Last weekend, August 30th, Rob was in his close college friend and now co-worker Ben Jolly's wedding at Saratoga Springs in Mount Pleasant. It was an absolutely gorgeous setting and the perfect classic wedding. Somehow Ben's mom managed to get Rob to join in with the guys doing the Chicken Dance at the rehearsal and then he sang 'My Girl' with the boys to Jodi and her bridesmaids at the reception....quite entertaining I must say! We had a great time! Enjoy the pictures....

It's a BOY!

Rob and I had our 18 week doctor's appointment today and found out that "wee" is definitely a little boy! We're both very excited and ready to start really planning and getting things ready. Everything looked good and is progressing as it should be. He was moving around like crazy (even though I can't feel anything yet) so I'm gonna go ahead and prepare myself for him taking after Rob and being very hyper-active! haha. He's also measuring pretty long so we could possibly have a tall little fella (that would be Rob & I's recessive genes kicking in - ha!) Enjoy the pictures!
